Cairngorm Mountain Light Trails

This picture is the result of around 300 individual frames taken from a time lapse of Cairngorm Mountain and the Northern Corries. The resulting images were blended and then I tweaked the colours and highlights. The full moon lights up the high clouds and creates alpenglow highlights on the ridges. Although it also presented significant problems trying to get any star trails to show. The major stars visible on the left edge are those of the lower half of the Orion constellation. The major light trails are those made by the piste machines on there after hours, runs down the traverse and Corrie Cas ski runs. Also the the one way road system is illuminated by car lights. If you look closely, climbers head torches can also be seen leaving Coire an t'Sneachda. A doted aeroplane trail can just be seen heading diagonally across the star rotation.

Loch Morlich

This is a composite image taken from still photographs that I had hoped to create a timelapse from. Unfortunately as the sunset the temperature plummeted to around -6 Centigrade or lower, which somehow caused my camera lens to mist up right in the middle of the sequence, it stayed that way for what must have been about 30mins of photos before clearing again, all unbeknown by me. Anyway, I did manage to salvage some of the later images and create these stacked photos showing the various ski area traffic and infrastructure as well as some climbers and walkers in the Northern Corries.
